Why is my domain name in quarantine?

Your domain is in quarantine because its paid validity period has expired. The name enters quarantine for a period of between 15 and 40 days.

While in quarantine, websites or email addresses attached to the domain name stop working. After the quarantine period ends, domains are released and can be registered by anyone on a first-come, first-served basis, or, in the case of .COM and .NET extensions, are put up for auction.

The domain name holder can choose to reactivate a domain that is in quarantine by paying an additional fee, which varies from extension to extension.
