What is a nameserver and what is it for?

A nameserver is a server that answers the question "who does this domain belong to, and where should the visitor or email be sent?". When someone visits a domain or sends it an email, their computer asks the domain's nameservers, which return the DNS records (A, MX, CNAME, etc.) pointing to where the site or email is actually hosted.

Every domain has at least two nameservers registered with the registry (EURid for .eu, RoTLD for .ro, etc.), for redundancy.

You have two options:

• use EUReg's nameservers (park1.eureg.ro and park2.eureg.ro), in which case you manage DNS records directly from your EUReg customer account, free of charge;
• use your own nameservers or another hosting provider's, in which case the DNS zone is managed there instead of at EUReg.
