My domain isn't accessible right after registration – why?
After a new domain is successfully registered at the registry, a short interval may pass before it becomes fully accessible on the internet, for a few reasons:
- nameserver propagation — if the domain was set to new nameservers (e.g. EUReg's), the information needs to spread across DNS servers worldwide, which can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours (see How long does nameserver propagation take?);
- no website configured yet — a newly registered domain doesn't automatically have a site attached; if you don't have a hosting plan connected to the domain, you'll see a default page or an error, not a "malfunction";
- your own computer's or browser's local cache — sometimes your computer has cached outdated information about the domain, even though the rest of the internet already sees it correctly; clearing your local DNS cache usually fixes this.
If more than 24-48 hours have passed and the domain still isn't accessible, contact us through the support section for a check.
