RoTLD allows registering .ro domains with Romanian-specific diacritics (ă, â, î, ș, ț), using the IDN ( Internationalized Domain Name ) format. When you register such a domain through EUReg, you can type the name directly with diacritics (e.g. myexampleș.ro ) — the system automatically converts the name into the technical ACE format (see What is the ACE format? ), which is what's actually used at the DNS level. A few things worth knowing: the domain can be used either through its diacritics version or its ACE version ( xn--... ) — both point to the same domain; some older browsers or apps may display the ACE version instead of the diacritics version; the same technical limitations that apply to any IDN domain apply here (see Technical limitations of IDNs ) — for example, you cannot mix characters from different alphabets in the same name. For brands, we recommend registering both the diacritics version and the plain version, to avoid confusion.
