What does “change of owner” mean?

If you bought a domain, or if you want to change the owner's details, you need to start the change of owner process.

During this process both the domain's owner and the agent managing the domain can be changed.

Fees are charged by the registry for a change of owner; these fees may include an extension of the validity period.

To start the change of owner process, you need a transfer key, which is obtained from the domain's current owner, or from the RoTLD portal for .RO domains. The change cannot be carried out without the transfer key.
