How do I unlock my domain to transfer it to another agent?
Most registrars, EUReg included, enable a protection against unauthorized transfers by default, called a transfer lock (visible as the clientTransferProhibited status). This lock must be explicitly disabled before a transfer to another agent can begin.
To unlock a domain registered through EUReg for a transfer:
- log in to your EUReg customer account and go to the domain's details;
- turn off the transfer lock option;
- generate or request the domain's transfer code (auth code) — for
.rodomains, this is obtained from the RoTLD portal, not from your EUReg account (see How long is a domain's transfer code valid?); - use the code you obtained to start the transfer at the new agent you chose.
Keep in mind that disabling the lock has no effect if the domain is still within the 60-day lock period after registration, the last transfer, or a recent contact-details change — in that case you'll need to wait until that period is over.
If the domain has unpaid invoices, the transfer can be blocked for that reason too, regardless of the transfer lock status.
