What's different about transferring a .eu domain?

Transferring a .eu domain follows the rules set by EURid and has a few particularities compared to other extensions:

• an authorization code (auth code) obtained from the current registrar is required;
• the domain holder must meet the eligibility conditions for .eu domains (an EU-based legal entity, or an individual resident in an EU country) — if these conditions are no longer met, the transfer can be blocked;
• EURid sends a confirmation to the holder registered in WHOIS, which must be approved for the transfer to complete;
• the process usually takes a few days, depending on how quickly the confirmation happens.

If the .eu domain's holder details are no longer accurate (for example the company has moved its registered office outside the EU), we recommend updating them before starting a transfer, to avoid having it rejected.
